Buy new motorhomes

Buy new motorhomesSam: Hello I’m Sam Pinkham, and have you ever thought about owning one of these?
For most people the idea of buying a brand new motor home is an unaffordable dream, especially once you consider the costs of the finance repayments, the servicing costs, the running costs and the depreciation. It’d be a mad thing to do in these uncertain times. But there’s somebody I would like you to meet. Since 2001 he has helped literally hundreds of people buy new motorhomes.

His own story is incredible. As is his idea that just about anybody could buy new motorhomes. So let’s meet him, he’s a founder of motorholme.com and his name is Andrew Hughes.
So Andrew, motorhome.com is the UK’s largest motor homes hire company, how many motor homes do you hire out?

Andrew: I think we have a fleet of well over five hundred vehicles at this time.
Sam: Five hundred… Do you own them all yourself?

Andrew: No, in fact we don’t own any of them Sam, what we do is we provide a hire marketing service for motor home owners, a bit like a holiday cottage rental agency except specifically for motor home owners.

Sam: Ok, so it’s a good idea, so tell me about this guide that you’ve written: “Motorhoming’s even more fun when it’s free”.

Andrew: When I first started motorholme.com I made a lot of mistakes and really what I wanted to do was help people avoid some of the common pitfalls that many seem to make when they first buy a motor home.

Sam: What sort of pitfalls are you talking about?

Andrew: A lot of the time you find that after the initial period of usage you really don’t use the motor home as much as you thought and then it can end up sitting on the driveway doing not very much, and after some time people can begin to resent the fact that they’ve invested a lot of their own capital in it or they’ve ended up paying monthly finance on something they hardly ever use.

Sam: So how can motor home owners avoid that mistake?

Andrew: Well I think if you go into buying a motor home at the beginning in the same way as a buy to let property or a holiday property, where you use it whenever you like and then rent it out when you’re not using it, then that’s a far better start than buying one and then realising that you don’t use it very much at all.

Sam: So how does the guide help potential customers who wish to buy new motorhomes?
